International Awards for Marilla
Marilla has been voted
International Artist of the Year and her best selling album "Holy One
of Israel" has received the accolade of International Album of the Year
at the first ever UCMVA Unity Awards held at the Catholic University
in Washington DC. The awards follow a previous tribute to the quality
of Marilla's recordings when her debut video "How Can I Keep From Singing"
was voted Best Religious Video In Europe in 1999.
The UCMVA (United Catholic Music & Video Association) has been set
up to support, encourage and promote the development of all forms of
Catholic music and the Unity Awards, for which votes were invited from
all Association members, are designed to recognize the achievements
and excellence in varying categories of music and video.
When asked for her reaction to being named International Artist of the
Year, Marilla commented: "I am absolutely thrilled to receive these
awards, especially as the nominations came from people involved in the
Christian music scene. It is great to know that my work and ministry
are enjoyed and appreciated by fellow artists and other music
professionals."
